How do lessons work?

Each lesson teaches a few phrases: you listen, say them out loud, and practise them in different ways. Finished phrases come back in your daily review so you don’t forget them.

Mithu didn’t hear me

Speak a little closer to the phone, in a quiet place. On Android, Urdu checking uses the Google app, so keep it up to date. If your phone can’t check Urdu, HeyUrdu lets you listen back and judge it yourself.

Can I change the voice?

Yes: Settings › Voice. Choose Sana or Bilal.

What do I get for free?

One new lesson and one new chat every day, all accents and voices, flashcards, daily review and challenges. Pro adds unlimited lessons and chats, your mistakes deck and no ads.

How do I cancel Pro?

iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › HeyUrdu. Android: Google Play › Profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions › HeyUrdu. Cancel at least a day before it renews.

Something in a lesson is wrong

Tap the 🚩 at the top of the screen and tell us what’s wrong. Native speakers check every report.

Reminders aren’t coming

Check Settings › Daily reminder in HeyUrdu, then your phone’s notification settings for HeyUrdu.
